We've completely overhauled dark mode in featureOS with a new visual language inspired by modern design systems.

What's new

Elevation-based surfaces — Dark mode now uses layered elevation to create visual depth, making it easier to distinguish panels, cards, and overlays at a glance.

Blue-tinted surfaces and borders — Surfaces carry a subtle blue tint instead of flat gray, giving the interface a warmer, more refined feel.

Improved contrast across the board — Post lists, single post views, settings, sidebars, and the editor toolbar have all been tuned for better readability without being harsh on the eyes.

Subtler borders — Reduced border opacity throughout so dividers guide your eye without competing for attention.

Dark theme logo — You can now upload a separate logo for dark mode under Organization Settings. When no dark variant is set, we gracefully fall back to your light logo.

Refreshed settings layout — Settings pages now use a clean card-group layout that works beautifully in both light and dark themes.

Why we did this

Dark mode shouldn't be an afterthought. Many of you spend hours in featureOS every day, and we wanted the dark experience to feel intentional — not just "invert the colors and call it a day." This update brings dark mode up to the standard you'd expect from tools like Linear and ChatGPT.

We’ve introduced a new Value vs Effort scoring system to help you prioritize posts, ideas, and feedback more effectively in FeatureOS.

✨ What’s New

Assign Value and Effort scores directly from the post sidebar.

Posts are automatically placed on the Value–Effort matrix, grouped into four intuitive quadrants:

Quick Wins – High value, low effort

Big Projects – High value, high effort

Fill-ins – Low value, low effort

Time Sinks – Low value, high effort

Access the new Prioritization page to see all scored posts visually arranged by their impact and complexity.

💡 Why It Matters

This update helps you and your team focus on what truly drives progress — high-impact, low-effort work — while still having visibility into longer-term initiatives.
No more gut-based prioritization; now, you can see your priorities at a glance.

🧩 Example Use Cases

Here are some practical ways teams are already using the Value vs Effort matrix:

Product Teams:
Compare new feature requests to identify Quick Wins that can improve user experience without heavy engineering effort.

Customer Success & Feedback Teams:
Score customer suggestions to highlight high-value feedback that aligns with business goals.

Operations & Process Improvement:
Use it to decide which internal improvements offer the biggest return on effort.

Founders & Managers:
Visualize your backlog to make data-informed decisions about where to invest time and resources next.

🚀 Pro Tip

Start by scoring just your top 10 posts — you’ll instantly see which ones are worth acting on now and which can wait.
